Itinerary for the descent to the lake

The tour begins at 5:00 or 6:00 am, and transportation will pick you up from your hotel. During the journey, the guide will explain the activities, and when we reach the Pujilí canton, we will stop for breakfast.

The first point of interest is the Toachi Canyon (Chami Wayku), where you can observe a rock formation created by volcanic eruptions.

After a few minutes, we will arrive at the entrance of the Los Illinizas Ecological Reserve.

Upon reaching our destination, we will walk from the parking lot to the viewpoint of the lake.

After registering at the checkpoint, we will begin the descent along the trail to the lake, which takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes and offers various picturesque spots for photography.

Upon reaching the lake dock, you can engage in activities such as kayaking or motorboat rides, or simply sit and admire the beautiful emerald-colored lake.

The tour includes the rental of a kayak or motorboat on Quilotoa Lake.

When kayaking, we recommend you to bring extra clothes as you may get wet while paddling.

After finishing the activities and having the lunch box, we will begin the ascent towards the viewpoint, which takes approximately one hour. Once we have reached the top, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant overlooking the lake.

Then, we will visit local shops for souvenir purchases and the artisan mask workshop in the community of Tigua, before finally returning to your accommodation.
